CEDA's Heat Pump Initiative
What is the Initiative?
California is accelerating toward a cleaner, all-electric future, with a goal of 6 million heat pump installations by 2030. Today, the state is on track for only about 4 million.
The California Energy Design Assistance (CEDA) program helps close this gap by supporting decarbonization and electrification in commercial new construction and major renovation projects. Through its new Heat Pump Initiative, CEDA is giving projects a faster path to incentive reservation.

Why Participate
Higher financial incentives ($200-$400/ton for qualifying deemed measures)
Faster process (typically 2–3 weeks from enrollment)
No meetings required for project teams
Enroll up to 90 days before occupancy
Heat Pump Benefits
- Stay Ahead: Meet tightening NOx standards and avoid stranded assets.
- Cleaner Air: Eliminate combustion and protect indoor health.
- Lower Emissions: Support climate goals and compliance.
- Reduced Costs: Avoid gas infrastructure and cut maintenance.
